Random thoughts on God and Free Will

So I had this thought about the world and God in general. The question which keeps bugging me is whether or not there is free will. Many would undoubtedly contend that that if God exists then we can't have free will. This, according to their reasoning, is due to the theory that if a supreme being exists then our actions can't be without some sort of control. everything (according to the theory) is predestined. This is probably where the idea of fate comes from. The idea that no matter what decisions you make or whatever outcomes are achieved has long being determined by a higher being or supreme force. This is equally present in Greek mythology. The sisters of fate through their threads of fate have woven a clear path for each human which means their every decision is to ultimately end as the thread predicts. In reality is this actually the situation?

My answer is to the contrary. I contend that we indeed control our own faiths and decisions. I'd first like to explain with the bible (a cliche, yes). In the creation story, God created Adam and Eve he thereafter instructed them not to eat of the forbidden tree and further warned them of the consequences. In doing so God gave them a choice, to either eat or not to eat (informing them of the consequences was confirmation of this). If God knew that bothhboth creation would undoubtedly disobey him I doubt if he would have given them that instruction in the first place.

In closing this random thought, there's a famous folklore of two men who went to a traditionalist for divination. Both men were poor and the priest predicted that one of them would eventually turn out rich and the other would undoubtedly be poor for the rest of his life. The man who was told he would inevitably become rich was happy and spent the rest of his days relaxing and sleeping at home expecting hiss riches to appear. However, the one "destined" to be poor was sad and this poured his entire strength into his work. Guess who turned out rich? 😂😂😂

Folks, free will ain't an illusion. You have a say in your life. Peace out✌🏼

  1. Free will is why the question 'if there's a God, then why does he allow evil?' exists
